The annual World Day for Safety and Health at Work on 28 April promotes the prevention of occupational accidents and disease globally. It is an awareness-raising campaign intended to focus international attention on the magnitude of the problem and on how promoting and creating a safety and health culture can help reduce the number of work-related deaths and injuries.
As employers are responsible for ensuring that the working environment is safe and healthy; as workers we are responsible to work safely and to protect ourselves and not endanger others, to know our rights and to participate in the implementation of preventive measures.

How healthy is your heart?
Keeping your heart healthy is something you can work on every day. What you eat, how much you move, whether you smoke and controlling your cholesterol and blood pressure are five things that can have a big impact on your heart.
Your GP and nurse can support you to lower the risk of having a heart attack or stroke. A Heart Health Check is a 20-minute check-up with your GP to assess your risk. Your GP uses the information gathered to assess your risk of having a heart attack or stroke in the next five years. If needed, your health care team will work with you on a plan to lower your risk of heart attack or stroke.
For more information, and/or to book an appointment at CHMC The Mall, please call (02) 9634 5000 or CHMC Barwell Ave, please call (02) 8865 0650.

Let us help you build back your better mental health through a Virtual Reality Therapy Session. CHMC Barwell Ave is currently one of the few medical centres in Sydney to leverage virtual reality to help patients better manage stress and anxiety.
Virtual reality in therapy is scientifically and medically validated. Over a decade of controlled studies have proved the effectiveness of virtual reality for the treatment of mental disorders, especially anxiety and specific phobias.
Everyone feels down, sad, frustrated, stressed or anxious at times, but it’s important to be able to recognise when a mood or behaviour is more than a temporary thing. Always remember, you are not alone. Our health care team are always ready to lend a helping hand.

COVID19 UPDATES
ATAGI has recommended an additional COVID-19 winter booster dose for those at higher risk of serious illness.
The COVID-19 winter booster dose (second booster dose) will be available to those eligible individuals from April 2022.
You can get your COVID-19 and flu vaccines at the same time. Most people who are eligible for the COVID-19 winter booster dose will also be eligible for a free flu vaccine, available from mid-late April 2022.
Click here to check your eligibility.
Have you had your COVID-19 booster shot?
It’s not too late to book your COVID-19 vaccination or booster at Castle Hill Medical Centre. Vaccine and/or booster appointments are still available at both CHMC Respiratory Clinic and CHMC Barwell Ave.
Tested Positive for COVID-19?
If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19, you can now book a telehealth appointment with your GP at CHMC. Ongoing care can be provided to maintain your health while unwell and isolating. If your doctor determines that you need to be seen physically, that can be arranged.
Seeing friends and family? Meet outdoors or in a well-ventilated indoor space.
Open or well-ventilated spaces reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 because infectious particles are more quickly diffused in the open air than in spaces with less ventilation.
Participate in a NCIRS OPTIMUM Study for Food Allergies in Children
Would you like to be involved in a study aiming to help protect young children against food allergies? The OPTIMUM Study is investigating if giving a dose of ‘whole-cell’ whooping cough vaccine at 2 months of age, instead of the current ‘acellular’ vaccine, could be beneficial in training the immune system and preventing the development of food allergies and eczema.
For more information and/or to participate in the study, click here.
