After completing a Bachelor of Medical Science, Ellen studied medicine through the Graduate Medical Program at the University of Sydney and graduated as a doctor in 2004.
As part of these studies, Ellen trained at various hospitals in Sydney, as well as spending time in rural areas for mental health and General Practice training. She was a Senior Resident Medical Officer at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead for a year in 2006, with a secondment to RPA for neonatal / newborn care. During this year she also completed the Diploma of child health.
On completion of her training, Ellen wanted to carry on her interest in child and family medicine through General Practice. This also enabled her to see patients of all ages – including those with complex chronic conditions. Her focus has always been on providing excellent continuity of care in the community setting.
Ellen joined CHMC in 2008 and completed her GP fellowship that year. She has found General Practice to be enriching and rewarding and considers it a privilege to be involved in people’s lives in this way.
Ellen is the mother to 2 young children, who keep her very busy when not being a GP.
Whilst Ellen enjoys seeing all patients and conditions, her special areas of interests include women’s health, children’s health (from newborn onwards) and preventative health.
